Art Stay date TBD

Treat yourself to a 4-day felting workshop in a wonderful setting.  Emandal is a beautiful farm and resort on the main stem of the Eel River, East of Willits.  There is ample opportunity for swimming and hiking.  There are several lawn areas that provide guests with the perfect backdrop for a game of Frisbee or football, or simply as a quiet place to read a good book.  There are incredible ornamental and vegetable gardens and orchards and the friendly staff know how to cook and pamper you.  Everything is cooked from scratch and they even roast coffee and make their own jams, syrups, granola, breads and desserts.  The cabins are cozy and furnished with beds, cold spring water and electricity. Bathrooms and shower facilities are located nearby in the camp area.

There will be a lot of flexibility to your schedule.  The formal workshop runs 3 hours in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon, leaving you to relax the rest of the time or work on your felting projects.  This class is excellent for a beginner as an introduction to wet felting and also for the experienced felter who wants to learn more about making good felt.  The artistic possibilities of the felt medium will be a central focus of the workshop.  You get to choose your projects, from wall art, coasters, place mats, hats, scarves, wrist warmers, collars, pouches, or bags.  I will have a lot of examples to get your creative juices going.  Depending on your energy, you can make quite a few items during the workshop.

In addition to the felting process, I will also share my extensive experience processing raw wool for felting, blending colors, and making nature prints on felt using local plants.  This would normally be a separate workshop (or several) and really sets this apart from other felting workshops.

Fees are $900 to $998 per person, depending on your choice of lodging, and include everything except the wool fiber.  Included are workshop fee and equipment, 4 nights lodging, all meals, and all taxes.  Bring your own wool fiber if you like, or purchase fiber from me.  Expect to spend between $25 and $50 for fiber.

Get a friend or family member to share the experience, spend time together, and make the workshop even more fun.  Please pass this e-mail on to your friends who might be interested in a wonderful workshop/vacation combination in Mendocino County.

To register, go on the Emandal website at and look under the “Art Stays” tab.

Hope to see you in September,
